Sinbad Marine Services can provide complete onshore logistical support for the unloading, storage and transportation of wind turbine generators from the ship to the windfarm site. Sinbad Marine Services is a member of the Irish Wind Energy Association.
Located on the Northwest coast of Ireland, Killybegs is an ideal unloading port for wind turbine generators bound for the northern half of Ireland (including Northern Ireland). There are several sizable wind farms within 40kms of Killybegs. All components for the largest onshore windfarm site in Ireland (25 MW), located north of Ballybofey, Co. Donegal were shipped through Killybegs by Sinbad Marine Services.
Sinbad Marine Services specialises in handling heavy and unusual lifts such as tower sections, blades and nacelles. To date we have handled nacelles as heavy as 97 tonnes and blades as long as 40 metres. We can provide a complete logistical package which includes unloading the vessel, transportation to laydown area, storage and subsequent transportation to the windfarm site.
Storage options range from laydown on and adjacent to the new quay to several alternatives within a ten kilometre radius of Killybegs. The new quay at Killybegs, which comprises 28 acres of reclaimed land provides ample and secure storage on the quayside, resulting in significant cost savings.
