Sinbad Off To A Busy Start In 2012

Sinbad Marine Services Ltd are off to a busy start in 2012 as it continues to receive delivery of the components for 22 new wind turbines from leading wind turbine manufacturer Enercon.
After and during shipment to Killybegs, the turbine parts will be transported by road to two new wind farms being developed by leading independent energy provider Energia in Crighshane and Churchill in Co. Tyrone.

The deliveries (9 shipments in total) commenced just before Christmas and are expected to last up until March 2012. Each load will leave Killybegs Port and will travel along the main road towards Donegal Town.

The final destination for the shipments will be the Crighshane and Church Hill wind farms in Co.Tyrone. The combined generating capacity of the two wind farms will be a very impressive 50 megawatts, generated by a total of 22 x Enercon E70 turbines.

Peter Baillie, Managing Director Energia Renewables, said: “Energia Renewables is delighted to be once again using Killybegs Port for delivery of wind turbines. Killybegs has developed a central role for itself in the development process for renewable energy in the North West.”

Windfarm development can be complex, from importing the shipments of valuable components to the erection of the units on site, needing careful management and planning.

Sinbad Marine Services provides a complete onshore logistics package to companies erecting windmills in the northern half of Ireland.

For windmills being imported by sea, the deepwater port of Killybegs is the natural choice.  Killybegs Harbour has ample and secure quayside laydown and is in close proximity to sites with some of the best wind resouces in Europe.  For more information on the port visit our port information page.
