SOME LOCAL ATTRACTIONS:

Killybegs is located on the rugged Donegal coastline. The Atlantic Ocean has beautifully carved out Donegal Bay, creating some of the most outstanding places of natural beauty in Ireland, not least the stunning Slieve League Cliffs which tower at 595m above sea level. These impressive cliffs which are located just 40 minutes from Killybegs are the highest sea cliffs in Europe.

Other places of interest and historical importance in the vicinity include Donegal Castle and heritage sites at Ardara, and Glencolmcille and Sligo (W.B. Yate's Country). Glenveagh Castle and Natural Park is located on 14,000 hectares of mountain, raised bogland, lakes and woodlands and is home to the golden eagle and red deer.

There is an abundance of outdoor activities to cater for every taste and energy level e.g. hiking, golfing, angling, hill walking, bird watching, sailing etc. Several pubs in the area play traditional Irish music in the evening. Killybegs itself was an important port of refuge for the Spanish Armada in the 16th century. Remnants of the Spanish influence still exist today. The town’s hugely popular holy well which is dedicated to St. Catherine of Alexandria receives thousands of visitors yearly.
